Summer Vacations 2025 May be Announced Early as Temp Rises at Punjab

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has suggested that schools in Punjab should start summer vacations earlier if temperatures continue to rise. According to a report on Wednesday, the PDMA also recommended changing school timings to protect students from the increasing heat and the risk of heatwaves.


PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia has been sent a letter to the School Education and Higher Education Departments. As well as to divisional and deputy commissioners across Punjab. The letter advises them to take precautionary steps due to the rising heat.


The PDMA has suggested changing school timings and starting summer vacations earlier if temperatures keep going up.
The letter also urges schools and colleges to:
• Make sure clean drinking water is always available.
• Stop outdoor activities to protect students.
• Ask students to wear light and loose-fitting clothes.


The PDMA has stressed the importance of working closely with district disaster management authorities to make sure important updates and information are shared on time. Meanwhile, the weather in Punjab remains dry, and temperatures are rising as the summer heat gets stronger. According to the Met Office, the minimum temperature in Lahore is now around 23°C, and it may go up to 40°C in the coming days.

In addition, the PDMA has called for:
• Better airflow in classrooms.
• Working fans and cooling systems.
• First-aid facility should be there. Furthermore their staff trained to handle heatwave related health issues.
